"Un Dia Reflection" from Team Guatemala

By Alyssa Sosa-Molina ('25)

We started the day with a wonderful breakfast with our hosts. Beginning missions work around 10AM where we helped teach English classes. There were two classes, one had younger students and the other was high schoolers. With the students we shared songs, practiced introducing ourselves, and played telephone. Through the English classes I was able to practice my Spanish speaking skills alongside helping them with their English.

After a great lunch with our host family, the other girls and I participated in a hair salon beauty ministry, while the boys cleaned the veranda on the roof. The hairdresser Nancy, shared with us her story of how God gave her the purpose to pursue hairdressing. She explained how hairdressing is a great blessing to the women in the area of Chimaltenango.

In the evening we went to the Church where we prepared a song to sing for the Church service on Sunday. The song came together well and it was a great team effort of collaboration. After this we went to the mall where we learned more about the culture. We had a great first day in Guatemala!
