The Fall Mountain Retreat always begins with a buzz of excitement as everyone gathers to depart. Bags are tossed into vehicles, and the air is filled with eagerness to head to Camp Shiloh. Even the drive feels like part of the adventure, offering a chance to connect with people you may not know well yet.

When we arrive, the camp meets us with its cozy, rustic vibe. The aroma of wood sets the perfect "camp in the woods" tone. Jeffrey and Greg Gordon welcome us with warm smiles, ready to prepare delicious meals. This year, our speaker, Pastor Brett Clausing, delivered powerful teachings about growing in God’s love and putting it into practice. Each evening, we gathered for chapel, a time to reflect and connect spiritually as a community.

The retreat is packed with activities, each providing a unique way to enjoy the mountains while deepening our faith and relationships. We swim, perform the much-anticipated yearly skits, and hike in the Presidentials. Evenings bring the warmth of a campfire, complete with s’mores and laughter.

The retreat holds a special tradition: the senior sleepout. This year, my class of ’25 truly bonded during this time. We shared snacks, sat around the fire, and took turns affirming each other’s strengths, reflecting on the unique qualities of each person. It was a meaningful experience that allowed us to grow closer and see one another in a deeper perspective.

The hikes are always a highlight of the retreat. This year, we formed various groups, all ascending Mount Adams. Along the way, we share conversations, play games, and encourage each other through the challenges. Reaching the summit brings a mix of emotions—relief, accomplishment, and awe at the breathtaking views.

Fall Mountain Retreat is more than just a few days in the mountains. It’s a time for personal growth, deeper connections, and unforgettable memories.
