This year we are blessed to have “one of our own” on campus contributing to the growth and development of Jesse Remington High School. Mark Moran, class of 2007, will be working with Headmaster Philbrick in Marketing and Financial Development, and will be the new leader of our Koinonia Ministry.
Mark was an excellent student at JRHS, and when he thinks of his Jesse days, he recalls “solidifying my world view, and establishing the principles by which I have lived my life. I am certain I owe a great deal of the successes I have had in life to God’s work in my life through his amazing school.” It is this overwhelming sense of thankfulness and gratitude that caused Mark to come back to his Alma Mater and serve this year.
Mark went to Norwich University where he earned a bachelor’s in History, minor in English, and a commission in the United States Marine Corps. Since graduation, Mark has served as an active Marine, and was promoted to the rank of Major in 2021.
Shortly after graduation, Mark married the love of his life, Kallee Shattuck, also a JRHS alumna, class of 2007. Mark and Kallee have a thriving family, Elijah (10), James (6) and baby Grace (two weeks old!).
Most recently, Mark served in Okinawa as a Company Commander at 3rd Law Enforcement Battalion, and Future Operations Officer at the III Marine Force Expeditionary Force Information Group. His next assignment is most unique and will prove to be very fulfilling and rewarding: he is earning a Master’s Degree in Education at Rivier University. Upon completion in 2024, Mark, Kallee and the kids will be heading to Quantico Virginia where Mark will use his degree teaching and developing curriculum for the Marine Corps’ Training and Education Command. Mark will continue to prioritize supporting Jesse Remington’s mission wherever he goes.
This year, Mark is looking forward to leading the Koinonia leaders and groups, taking what he has learned in the Marine Corps and applying it to God’s purpose of raising up the next generation to get serious about their personal formation in Christ. He will also be working with Jeff Philbrick and Shelly Weeks in Marketing & Development, with his first assignment being some video, print and spoken work on our One Day Giving Campaign, “Kingdom Impact” set for later September.
“Jesse Remington played a critical role in developing me into who I am today. I cannot wait to see what God has planned for Jesse Remington in the years to come, and I am incredibly humbled to be allowed to participate in it now!” -Mark.
When you see Mark on campus, be sure to give him a hello (no salute necessary!) He can be reached at mmoran@jrhs.org.
