Family Story: The deRose Family

By Michelle deRose, Current JRHS Parent

A year ago is when my research on high schools for my son began. He struggled in public school and I knew a large public high school was not the place for him. Jake and Amy Carlson introduced us to Jesse Remington. Immediately after meeting Mrs.Crawford and touring the school, I was intrigued. To be completely honest, it was the size of the school that interested me the most. Every mother wants their child to be happy and flourish. I felt JRHS was the perfect size for my son to get the attention he needed academically and the project based learning to help him succeed.

Timmy attended an open house and I could tell by his questions and the look in his eyes that Jesse Remington made quite the impression on him. My heart was full. After a lengthy application and interview process, Timmy was accepted on certain conditions of his attendance and grades. In November, Timmy received a letter commending him for exceeding the school’s expectations.

JRHS has given my son more than I could’ve ever imagined. He loves school. He’s made great friends and the car ride home is always filled with daily stories. He has great respect for his teachers. Academics are still a struggle for him but he has come leaps and bounds in just a few short months. I cannot wait to watch him grow during his high school years.

Jesse Remington focuses on the entire student through the words of the Bible. Teaching respect, leadership, responsibility, teamwork, accountability which in turn builds self confidence within each student. Christian values are intertwined in every subject, project and activity. JRHS builds a foundation for each student to succeed no matter what path in life they travel.

I am sure these four short years will fly by and I’m already teary eyed thinking of watching Timmy graduate knowing that he found his place in the world at JRHS.
