I reflect back on 2017 when five students, Matt Hannan, Susan Sicard, and I traveled to Hungary. I remember the first profound experience of the Spirit of the Lord moving in my body and in the room as I stood with fifteen Hungarians in a small church in Bodrog. Nimrod was just becoming a pastor and was engaged to his beautiful Petra. We were singing “Above All” in at least three languages. Tears came to my eyes as I thought of the glorious voices in heaven, worshiping God in one tongue and voice. I relished that deep feeling of joy for both their culture and ours as we stood as one Body of Christ. In my class this week, I experienced, again, many languages as I taught Spanish to my students alongside our visiting Hungarian students. Their accents were phenomenal while reading aloud the Spanish texts. It was such fun to have them in my class! To think, just eight years ago I was a young student in Hungary, teaching English, and now they are here, helping my students with Spanish pronunciation. I have been truly blessed by their presence and the joy that they bring!
As one body in Christ, we also had a glorious time preparing worship for chapel this Friday as well as church on this coming Sunday at Candia Congregational Church. You are all invited to worship with us all on Sunday!! The many languages singing the same song is an experience you won’t want to miss, and I know that God smiles upon it!
