This year, Entrepreneurial Education (EE) has been added to the Jesse Remington curriculum. Taught by Matt Hannan, EE aims to teach students the benefits of having a growth mindset through using the ‘Seedtree Group’ program, designed by Stephen Carter. Upon successful completion of the EE curriculum, students will learn to think differently about their lives and take ownership of the situations they find themselves in. This change from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset will impact students, not just educationally, but socially and spiritually as well. Jack Rairdon, a current EE student, says this class has “taught him valuable lessons that are applicable to his everyday life.” Since this is the first session of the Entrepreneurial Education class, the project they are working on is a tool to help promote the projects of future classes.
The current project the students are working on is an Instagram account for JRHS that is geared towards current and potential JRHS students. They plan to increase awareness and excitement about school sports and events, include interviews and friendly debates, and provide a platform for JRHS communication among students. In order to submit this as their final project, the students must prepare a business proposal for Mr. Hannan, explaining why they chose this as their final project as well as the benefits to having a student-run social media page. Students are considering future EE class projects and realistic ways to ensure the success of this social media account.
